The Eastern Bays Songbird Project is a not-for-profit organisation aimed at enabling the community to create an urban pest free sanctuary where our native and endemic flora and fauna can thrive. We provide tools and advice on best practice removal of both pest plants and pest mammals.

We have many volunteer activities throughout the year including trapping for pests, removing pest plants, native bird monitoring, pest monitoring, organising and helping out with trap handout events, handing out flyers and promotion. We also volunteer opportunities for corporate groups to be involved in restoration activities.

The Pourewa Restoration Group are a group of locals transforming a weed infested bush area in the heart of Auckland City to a native tree urban forest. Selwyn Bush is located behind the Barfoot and Thomson Stadium and is a world away from the stresses of city living.

If you are interested in assisting us in controlling weeds, planting native trees and encouraging birdlife back we would be delighted to hear from you.

Any support and skills are welcome, whether it is helping with weeding, planting,  maintenance of tracks, or even keeping our social media up to date.

Bellyful Central Auckland branch nourishes and connects communities by cooking and delivering a set of three free frozen meals to whänau with babies or young children who live in our area and who need support. We also support Little Treasures by supplying meals to the Neonatal unit at Starship Hospital.   

Our volunteers fulfil one or more of the following two roles: attending our monthly cookathons where we bulk cook five different meals; deliver meals to families who like in our area; and participating in our fundraising events.

Everybody Eats is a not-for-profit, pay-as-you-feel dining concept. We rescue surplus produce destined for landfill and turn it into restaurant quality meals, with help from volunteers.

Volunteers have the option of helping in the afternoon with kitchen prep, or serving the diners, plating the food or dishwashing on the evening shift.

Our Tongan group caters for the elderly, disabilities and the under privileged in the community. One of our projects is the Panmure Community Garden.

We are at Te Oro Building everything Monday and Tuesday. We are running a Sewing class and Art and Graft. On Wednesday every week we are at the Community Hall Center Glen Innes running our weekly activities.

We are a community-initiated urban garden focused on growing local kai. We want to provide as much food as possible and build and share skills in a safe and welcoming environment. We provide CSA vegetable boxes for subscribers which are grown using organic principles and gift excess to the community.

Volunteers needed with a keen desire to garden, produce healthy food and help with a variety of tasks. Garden sessions are Tuesdays and Fridays 10am-1pm plus weekend working-bees. We also need support with organising, marketing, events, fundraising or any of the other many areas that keep the garden running.

Te Pourewa Reserve is dedicated to the restoration and preservation of native ecosystems. Our mahi includes reforestation of Tamaki native ecosystem, pest control, sustainable gardening, and cultural education. We work to protect and enhance the natural environment for future generations.

Volunteers at Te Pourewa Reserve can engage in hands-on activities like tree planting, weed management, native plant care, and maintaining community gardens. Join us in our efforts to restore the land and preserve our cultural heritage.

Age Concern provides social connection support to seniors to reduce isolation and loneliness.

Volunteers can contribute by making in-home visits, phone calls, gardening and handyman help, and outings for seniors. Volunteers can also help at our offices with admin and tech support.

We provide disability information and support to disabled people and their whanau and support them on their journey. We also provide information and support to advocates who are in a 1:1 relationship with a vulnerable person with an intellectual disability.

At Mercy Hospice we provide FREE palliative care to patients navigating terminal illness.  End of Life Care is one of the most humbling experiences we can do for our patients and their whanau, but the cost to our Charity is significant.

We rely heavily on the gift of time from volunteers, whether it be as a driver taking patients to hospital appointments, as a companion for patients living in the community, becoming one of our tea/drinks trolley servers, or helping in one of our lovely Op Shops across the city.  The shops are open 7 days a week and there are two shifts of 3 hours each per day.

If you have any spare time at all and can commit to helping Mercy Hospice care for patients, either directly or via our shops, we would love to hear from you.

The need for blood is constant, and because there's no substitute for blood, New Zealand relies on the generosity of everyday heroes to make sure there's enough available for those who need it.

Neighbourhood Support is a nationwide community-led movement bringing people and neighbourhoods together to create safe, resilient, and connected communities.

The core purpose of NZRDA is to provide interaction with horses to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for people experiencing disability, or who have specific challenges or needs.

We aim to enable and support disabled people to achieve good lives including meaningful participation in, and contribution to, important life activities and roles in their community.

Volunteer roles include side walking, horse leading, and grooming/gearing up the horses. ACRDA runs sessions on Thursday mornings during terms 1,2 and 4 at the Meadowbank Pony Club, Kohimarama Road.

We harness the power of community, through connecting adult volunteers with tamariki in their own communities. BBBS Auckland provides children aged 6-12 with a professionally supported mentoring relationship. We match children with a volunteer mentor who will be a positive role model and support them as they navigate growing up.

Becoming a mentor to a child for a minimum of 12 months or more within your community. The commitment involves one/two hours a week, the volunteer will receive monthly support from a trained professional and will go through training, interviewing and police vetting for the safety of the match.

Cheekee Hero Charity empowers tamariki (children) and rangatahi (youth) to become the hero of their own stories, to celebrate their unique talents and perspective, and to inspire others to join the quest for more inclusive and compassionate world.

Volunteers can help plan, organise, campaign and fund raise for the Cheekee Hero day at Ōrākei School on Friday 6th December 2024. The funds raised will go toward structured literacy resources and the “monster conversations” communication tool for students.

East City Community Trust is a vibrant, multi-use venue dedicated to bringing communities together. We provide our facilities to local sports clubs, schools, and cultural groups, supporting Tamariki and Rangatahi through sports, wellbeing initiatives, and community-based events.

The East City Community Trust at Barfoot & Thompson Stadium seeks volunteers for parking coordination during community and sports events, as well as painting, and gardening jobs. The Eastern Bays Toy Library is a not-for-profit organisation that has been serving local families since 2008. We assist parents of pre-school aged children by providing a range of high quality toys to support learning through play. Through play, children learn problem solving, communication, develop fine motor skills, creativity, and have fun!

We have volunteer opportunities available for committee members, who support the various administrative functions that help the library to run (e.g. accounts, fundraising, marketing), and for duty shifts, to support operations during the library's opening hours (e.g. set up & pack down, checking toys in & out).

TS Achilles is part of the NZCF, a disciplined, uniformed, youth training organisation which provides leadership, personal development and operational training. Activities for the rangatahi involved include sailing, rifle shooting, leadership development, first aid and more. Adult staff support the operation of the unit, delivering activities and training.

Opportunities for volunteers are wide-ranging. This includes options for administrative tasks, managing uniform or equipment stores, ensuring the upkeep of unit boats, organising training for cadets, amongst others. Many staff also teach lessons to the cadets, including topics such as first aid, military knowledge, chartwork, leadership, and sailing.

We are the youth council for the Ōrākei area, made up of 29 young leaders. We deliver projects centred around our goals to advocate for, engage, and empower youth in our community. Our past projects include our annual Film Festival, Life Skills Workshop and the Student Leadership Conference.

Our recruitment season runs November through January, and positions on the council are held February through December. IREAF (Refugee Education for Adults and Families) operates as part of Selwyn College. The William C Daldy is a twin screw, coal-fired steam tug. We are Auckland’s most stable, fun and affordable charter boat for our size.
